Bile Reflux causes Cancer?
I have had bile reflux since I was 16 y/o now Im 21 year
I haven’t had medication since then until now.
I was wondering how long it would cause esophageal cancer or stomach cancer.
Chronic acid reflux, over 5 years, can lead to the devopment of a condition called Barrett’s esophagus. This is a pre-cancerous finding, that needs to be watched for signs of development of dysplasia. It is easy to treat with the daily use of drugs like, prilosec, OTC. Avoid alcohol and smoking. An EGD can show if you have this condition, but only needs to be done if you have had daily symptoms for over 5 years. Only 1/2%, per year, becomes cancerous.
