Do I have a form of GERD or Laryngopharyngeal Reflux?
Hi there. I have been to the doctor and told him that I feel as if there is something stuck in my throat all the time, a lot of dryness in the back of the throat, phlegm which is not coming up like normal and problems talking and breathing in a lot of the time. He says that it could be something to do with antacids? Like the stomach acid coming up but I have no heartburn which is strange or any other problem. I lost my voice a few months ago and it has never been right since. A constant irritation of the throat.
Anyway I have been prescribed with ‘Omeprazole’ as the antibiotics were no better. I have to try these for two months but I am not sure what I can do to help this get better? Do I need to drink more water and eat certain foods? Does it sound like an acid problem as this has gone on for about 2-3 months unlike a cold or flu. It also feels weird to breathe in. (Tickle like)!
I hope you can help me.
Thanks a lot!
I am going to take a guess here that you may have an enlarged uvula and that is banging around the base of your tongue, irritating it a little and causing a sore throat. You should go to a doctor who will do a complete throat exam, including visualizing your vocal cords. The GERD has likely caused some damage in your throat to your uvula and larynx.
